General Information About Argon

Argon is present in atmosphere to the extent of about 0.93%..

It is colorless, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic gas.

It is non-flammable and is a highly inert Gas.

It has an asphyxiating effect. Argon has much different application in many industries. The most common one is as an shielding gas for arc welding – either in pure form or as part of various mixtures. It is one of the main gases used in filling mixtures for incandescent (filament) lamps.

For excimer lasers, Argon blended with helium as an insulation gas.

Application

1. Inert atmosphere.
2. Shielding gas mixture for welding.
3. Stirring and decarburization of steel.
4. Luminescent mixture of light bulb.
5. Use in lab for sampling.
